Kitchener’s Koppie – Driekuil
The height of the tallest of the wonderstone hills is estimated at between 55 m and below 80 m. It commanded an extensive view over the surrounding countryside and
during the Anglo-Boer War the British used it as an observation post from 1901 to 1902 while pursuing general De La Rey’s Boer forces in the area. The British had a base on Driekuil under
the leadership of Walter Kitchener, and a post on Gestoptefontein
