General – H. A. Alberts

Hendrik Abraham Alberts as a private took part in most of the battles with his commando of Heidelberghers in Natal.
At Spionkop he was acting veldcornet.
After Pretoria was taken he was appointed to Commandant of the Heidelberg commando and was stationed at Machadodorp. The commandant C. J. Spruyt was promoted to General in the place of General Gravett who was killed in battle.
He was relieving General Spruyt when he was absent and took control when General Spruyt was killed.
In November 1901 after the battle of Bakenlaagte he was placed in control of the Transvalers in the Free state.
In February 1902 they went back to the Highveld and in May 1902 was, with P.R. Viljoen and D.J.E. Opperman sent to Vereeniging for the peace conference and on 5 June he laid down his weapons with the Heidelberg commando
