General – Hermanus Richard Lemmer

He was born on 29 June 1849 on the farm Hartbeesfontein in the Potchefstroom district. He was a farmer till age of 32  and two years after the first war

was a veldkornet in the war against Moshette as a volunteer. He was also wounded  in this battles.

He was later a member of the House of Assemble till be beginning of the Boer war.

At the battle of Kraaipan he was still a civilian but was later promoted to Vecht general in the Colesberg area and later in Natal, the Orange FreeS tate and Transvaal.

He was killed in action in a battle between Lichtenburg and Marico at the end of 1900 and buried on the farm Varkenfontein in the Lichtenburg district.
