Kommandant – A.D. Badenhorst

Adriaan Dirk Badenhorst was born on 3 June 1852 in Natal but later moved to the Versamelberge in the Wakkerstroom district.

During the first war he fought against Mapoch and later also in 1882.

In October 1899 he went to Natal as a burgher and was later promoted to a fieldcornet after the battle of Dundee in the place of H. Sassenberg who died.

He was with most of the battles in Natal and the Eastern Transvaal and on 6 February 1901 he was wounded in the leg.

He was out of action for two months but after that joined the war again till the end
