Kommandant – J.F. de Beer

Jacobus Frederik (Tollie) de Beer was born on 18 November 1853 on the farm Vlakfontein in the Wolmaranstad district and died in 1910.

When the first war broke out he was a veldcornet and in 1882 he was appointed Commandant of the Bloemhof commando.

In 1884 he fought against Mapoch in the Northern Transvaal and against Mamusa in the Western Transvaal.

In 1897 he became a member of the Volksraad and in 1899 joined the war.

He was at the battles near Vryburg, Magersfontein, Paardeberg, Driefontein, Zandrivier, Boerlaagte, Twee riviere, Boekenhoutskloof and Hartbeesfontein.

He was wounded at Paardeberg

He was also part of the Vereeniging peace board.
