Heinrich Friedrich Meyer was born on 26 September 1857 and was appointed veldcornet from 1892 for ward 2 of the Piet Retief district.
In October 1899 he took up weapons with his section.
He was part of a few smaller and bigger battles but on 1 March 1901 he was captured with his Corporal F. Martin.
He was take for a court marshal and given the death penalty. That night when he read from his bible it fall open on Psalm 41 from verse 1 to 3 and then told his corporal that they do not have to worry or fear nothing will happen to them.
After a few days they were informed that the charges were dropped and that they no are prisoners of war.
