Kommandant – H.C.J. van Rensburg

Hendrik Christoffel Janse van Rensburg was born on 21 July 1841 in the Rustenburg district.

In 1857 he moved to Zoutpansberg and establish in Schoemansdal in the Zoutpansberg.

In 1879 he was appointed as Commandant of the Zoutpansberg district. He was part of the battles against Malaboch, Majaadje,Magato as well as the first war against the British.

With the outbreak of the war he went with his commando to the northern borders but was later transferred to Natal and was part of the battle of Colensoe.

After the British took over Pretoria he moved with his commando back to Zoutpansberg and was at the battles of Pienaarsrivier, Warmbad and Buiskop. He was taken as a prisioner of war in May 1901 and sent overseas.
