Kaptein – P.A. Dames

P. Alphonse Dames  was born in 1876 in the Cape Colony and joined on 4 November 1899 the Middelburg commando’s as a volunteer. In December he was transfered to the Volunteer corps under commandant Edwards.

During 1900 he was placed in charge of the commando of Commandant Edwards and served till 4 May 1901 when he was wounded at a battle with General Bullock near Amerfoort and was transfered to the Red Cross hospital of Dr Jurriaanse.

On 4 June ,with Commandant Joubert of Wakkerstroom, were they taken prisioner by General Plumers troops.
