Adj General – H. de Jager

Hilgaard de Jager was the Chief adjudant on the staff of the Commandant General from the beginning of the war till the peace talks at Vereeniging.

Most of the time he was with General Louis Botha. He fought in the battles of Dundee, Ladysmith, Estcourt, Colenso.

He was also part of the battles of  Pieters hill, Biggarsberg, Brandfotd, Kliprivier, Pretoria, Donkerhoek, Dalmanutha, Helvetia, Lijdenburg as well as Chrissiesmeer and the attacks on the Oosterlijn raiway line at Itala, Spieshoek, Onverwacht and Bakenlaagte.He was with the General when they met Lord Kitchner in Middelburg for the negotiations and with the last negotiation at the Vaalriver.
